World FZO World Congress 2024: A Look Back

The 10th Annual World Free Zones Organization Conference, held at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, brought together leaders, innovators, and visionaries from around the globe. It was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. As the title sponsor, for the second year in a row, IFZA played a pivotal role in shaping discussions around the future of free zones, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.

The conference began with a warm welcome from H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Chairman of the World Free Zones Organization. Jochen Knecht, CEO of IFZA, emphasized the need for a strategic framework to attract new generations into organizations. The event was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.

Jim Hageman Snabe, Chairman of Siemens, urged attendees to shift from crisis anticipation to strategic foresight. H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, noted that free zones are vital for economic diversification and job creation.

Martin G. Pedersen, Chairman of IFZA, delivered a compelling keynote that underscored the significance of free zones as ecosystems fostering collaboration among diverse businesses. He stated, “Businesses hold the power to transform communities, uplift nations, and shape the future of entire continents.” His vision for a collaborative future was echoed throughout the day, reinforcing the belief that working together is essential for overcoming challenges.
